Grove Adventure Playground

London Borough of Lambeth

This playground unfortunately lacked high or adventurous play structures for years, so APES worked with users and staff to design and build a challenging net and tower structure, swing and climbing wall.

The four-storey tower was placed high in the tree line: indeed, it is so high that children who climb to the top can wave to commuters on the Thameslink train to Blackfriars on the bridge overhead. The tower includes a suspension bridge that branches out over a chillout net (popular among teenagers). As a result the site has been returned to its former glory as an adventurous play space.
